The "brigidino" of Lamporecchio

The “brigidino” of Lamporecchio

Lamporecchio is a small but important village: laid down the hill of the Montalbano region, during the centuries it has developed thanks to great artworks. Pope Clement IX, whose name was Giulio Rospigliosi, decided to build here his family’s villa according to the project of Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the greatest architect of the Baroque period (he also realized St. Peter’s colonnade in Vatican, Rome). With your guide you will visit Rospigliosi Villa, discovering its history and its beautiful frescoes, which have been restored in 2015 and that you will see in all their beauty.

You will also taste Lamporecchio’s typical sweet, the “brigidino“, a crumbly wafer that the original recipe prescribes with anise, but that has developed in many variations, such as the chocolate one.

The “brigidino” is sold during all the Tuscan festivals and fun fairs: it is the typical “walking sweet”, beloved by children and adults who want to crunch something sweet while walking.

What are you waiting for? Lamporecchio, its art and its taste are waiting for you in the heart of Tuscany!
